Full Pond Drain & Clean - A build-up of excessive silt and debris in a fishpond can be detrimental to the fish, water clarity and can contribute to algae problems. Pond plants can grow too big and the fish have little space to swim.
Generally, the best policy is a full drain and clean. With better filtration equipment this is not needed as often, and we can install upgraded filters to keep it cleaner for longer.
We carefully cut back and divide any plants, repotting where needed. Every fishpond with standard off the shelf filtration system would benefit from this service yearly. We return some mature water along with conditioned tap water and add beneficial bacteria to avoid any ammonia or nitrite problems as the new water matures.
